Rachel Rosenberg, DVM
Growing up in a small town in the mountains of Canada, I spent my time befriending and helping any animal I came across – from earth worms crossing the sidewalk, to cows out in pasture, an assortment of cats and dogs, and black bears in my backyard (from a safe distance). I chose to travel to Africa to work with cheetahs, attend veterinary school in Australia (where I had the amazing opportunity to work with marsupials), and have worked in aquariums with a myriad of incredible ocean dwellers. I find a quiet understanding and ease with the animals I encounter. The only vocation I have ever wanted (apart from a brief dream of becoming a helicopter pilot) was to contribute to making the lives of animals better, so naturally I set out on the adventure to become a veterinarian. My determination never faltered. All aspects of animal care continue to be my calling and passion.
I learned to knit and sew before I learned to read (I promise, I am adept in reading now!). I have always loved using my hands to be creative; therefore, surgery came naturally to me in veterinary school. Surgery, both on a routine and emergency basis, is where I feel most at service to the animals in my care, I find so much meaning being able to make a tangible and beneficial difference in their time of need.
I wholeheartedly believe in Dr. Dustin Henwood and his incredible vision and knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of the amazing team at Heart and Soul.
